At Lumle, we endeavor to provide as much information as possible to our customers which helps them to plan their forthcoming holiday better. In this when to go in the Vietnam section, we have sketched a rough guide, when to travel to this country.
In fact, there is no such best or adverse time to go or visit Vietnam. Thus, Vietnam makes travel possible for its visitor all year round. However, the seasons vary across the country. What that means, it may be the case you experience sunshine in one part of the country whereas rain when you reach different parts of the country.
Northern Vietnam such as Hanoi, Halong Bay, and Sapa are generally chillier, wet, and cloudy from November to March. On the other hand, central Vietnam such as Hue, Hoi An, Danang, and Nha Trang embraces wet from September to December.
Although, we may argue that, June, July, and August are the best months to travel, this may well be for central Vietnam as northern and southern Vietnam may observe some rainstorms. During these months, southern Vietnam tends to be extremely humid with possible thunderstorms.
Month by Month guide on travelling in Vietnam.
January
January is the coolest and driest month of the year, making it a great time to observe the emerald seas and clear blue night skies. The pleasant weather makes January one of the perfect times to visit Vietnam as there is little rain in a range of 8 – 10 days, but a bit little rainier in the central of Vietnam, and cooler in the north.
February
The weather during February is comfortable and cool, making it a great time to go to Vietnam during the month. There is practically no rain from the month throughout the country, which is perfect for water sports and enjoying certain blossoms.
March
March is the last month of the dry season and there is little rain throughout the country this season. It is mild and warm, with drizzles in the north, but that shouldn’t stop anyone from enjoying other activities.
April
April’s weather is hot and dry, even hotter towards the end of April as summer in May is approaching. With frequent drizzles, you can still expect mezmerising, verdant eyeshots and blue skies. April is still a good time to visit Vietnam, especially in the north with lower number of visitors and tourists and the chilly weather.
May
May is a selective bag in terms of weather. However, despite that, it is still a great time of year to visit Vietnam. The central region will reach its peak, and the south with approach occasional, more frequent drizzles, entering the wet season. The north also approaches the wet season, but still remains hot and humid.
June
June starts off with humid and hot, but rainy season, with at least 20 rainy days in the month. The central region, thanks to the S- shaped physical geography of Vietnam, has remained dry and bright, still creating a perfect opportunity for visitors to visit in June. The south remains in the wet season, and the north is still in the summer with rain being normal.
July
July is similar to May and June, with daily downpours expected in the south, and the north remains the same. The centre of Vietnam remains dry with an odd light of shower expected. Visitors still do remain lower than the beginning of the year.
August
Overall, the view is that the weather remains mixed, with daily downpours expected in the south, and the north remains the same. The centre of Vietnam remains dry with rain expected often. Visitors still do remain lower than before.
September
Wet weather has reached the central region of Vietnam, meaning that showers are more frequent and occasional toward the end of the month and into October. In the mountains of Sapa, trekking is much more of an available choice again.
October
Towards the north, the weather is improving, with clearer skies, less rainfall and a break from humidity. In the centre of Vietnam, the weather is a natural disaster, with chances of storms and heavy downpours often, but the south is coming back with a promise of summer and less rainfall.
November
November is coming back with dry weather, making it a great time to go to North Vietnam, however, rain in the central region still show possibilities of stormy weather. In the south, the weather is perfect to go back to relaxing on the beach and good conditions for adventure activities in the mountains.
