At Lumle, we endeavor to provide as much as information possible to our customers which helps them to plan their forthcoming holiday better. In this, when to go to Nepal section, we have sketched a rough guide, on when to travel to this country.
The best times to visit are Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Sep, Oct, Nov & Dec as when the weather is clear and fresh and the sceneries are breath-taking. Please note Jan, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, and Feb are winter months; visitors are advised to be prepared for chillier nights, but the hotels in metropolitan cities such as Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, and Lumbini are equipped with heating amenities.
The months of Mar and Apr are moderate, not much cold or hot but from May heat and humidity start building until June when the monsoon rains start.
In fact, holidaying during the festival season or the festival has always been great as a country tends to be embellished with lots of colors. Although there are numerous festivals, Dashain, Diwali, and Holi are some of the main festivals of Nepal.
Month by Month Guide for Nepal
December- February
Between December and February, the weather during the day is pleasing, but it significantly drops during the nighttime, especially near the Himalayas. January is the coldest month of the year, but fewer visitors give you more chances to sightsee. Wildlife in Nepal is worth exploring during the drier months, such as places like Chitwan and Bardia. You can see rhinos, monkeys, birds and even elephants!
March- May
March leaves a mark for the start of this year’s spring, and temperatures increase, but the nights still stay cool. Days are lengthier, which is a perfect time to go trekking. This time of the year is busy, so plan well in advance so you are ready. May approaches, which is the warmest month of the year but showers will come to prepare for the monsoon season. Festivals like the Holi Festival are becoming well known, and many people in Nepal celebrate as well during March. The Rhododendron season starts to come into effect as Nepal’s scenery eventually starts to change, the plants changing color. Nepali New Year takes place in April.
June- August
The monsoon season occurs around June to August. It rains during the night, and Mother Nature wakes up with lush, verdant scenery, so it’s perfect for sightseeing but we do advise you to not go trekking around this time. Nag Panchami, the festival of snakes, Gai Jatra, and Janai Purnima takes place in August, and many residents celebrate these festivals.
September- November
As the monsoon fades off, September to November is the perfect time to go trekking, and welcoming, mouth-dropping scenery, clad pure air skies, and a suitable temperature. The lush landscapes are great for photographers as it follows right after the rain. From September to November, there are many festivals that are held, such as Teej, Dashain and Tihar.
