Good to know before you go China adventure, it’s significantly important to know few key factors. For example passports & visas, packing, traditions & customs and many more. We have put together few prime factors that you consider to know before you go on to China visit. Don’t worry; Lumle Holidays is here to help!
In this section of good to know before you go China you will learn about Passport & visas
In order to enter China you will require a valid visa in your passport before you arrive which, you can’t obtain upon arrival. You can obtain Chinese tourist visa yourself. However, if you require any assistance you may use the services of a company like Visa Central http://www.visacentral.co.uk/?login=lumleholidays for quick and easy visa processing that will take the hassle away getting your Chinese visa.
Travelling on the train
Infact, Chinese trains are the most efficient way of travelling especially on a long distances journey but they book up very early, especially at peak seasons such as summer and Chinese New Year. If you want to include train journey in your holiday, make sure you book well in time.
Traditions, customs and culture
Different tradition, customs and culture shock is another factor you may experience during your China holiday. In the UK, spitting and burping in a public place is not accepted but in China, it’s not so much. Don’t be shocked if people walking just past you suddenly spit or your taxi driver shouts loudly during your trip. It may be a surprise, and you may not like it, but each destination you’ll visit is different.
Electrics
China’s electrical system operates at 220 volts. The electrical outlets are either for fat round pins or for flat angled blades. So please bring your own voltage converter and adapter during your China holiday.
National holidays and festivals
Unlike in other countries China has it’s own national holidays and festivals.
National holidays:
* January 1 New Year
* May 1 Labor Day
* October 1 National Day
National festivals:
* Chinese Lunar New Year and Spring Festival – First day of the first lunar month
* Mid-Autumn Festival (Moon Festival) – The 15th day of the eighth lunar month
Clothing
We recommend you take with you comfortable, casual clothing and good walking shoes for the trip. Gain information about weather conditions before you go, and pack accordingly. Although, it is not necessary to bring formal clothing, the modest attire is strongly recommended whilst visiting China’s historical spots. Do not over pack; you can buy almost everything you need cheaply in China.
Money Matters
Ren Min Bi (RMB) is Chinese currency and is issued by the state bank, the People’s Bank of China. We recommend you take with you a combination of cash US dollars (some $1’s, $5’s and $20’s) and traveler’s cheques for your trip. Please ensure you always keep your currency exchange receipts, because you may need to present when you change RMB back to your own currency at the end of your visit to China. US dollars in cash form are accepted at many places in China whereas travelers’ cheques must be converted into RMB first.
Credit cards are not widely accepted in China but are becoming more popular in major metropolitan cities. International hotels, department stores and shops frequently visited by tourist accept credit cards. Cash back facility is not available unlike here in UK.
